RasGas Company Ltd organised its first major annual blood donation drive for 2013 last week.
As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme and its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, the RasGas Public Affairs Department and the RasGas Medical Centre hosted the annual blood donation drive in association with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The drive was held both at the Doha headquarters and at the Ras Laffan Industrial City and reached out to all RasGas employees.
The blood will be used for emergency hospital procedures such as transfusions for cardiac patients or premature babies as well as in the treatment of long-term illnesses like sickle-cell cancer.
The bi-annual blood donation drive primarily raises awareness on the role blood donation plays in helping save lives and sharing the gift of life. Blood donation is a key element of the company’s CSR programme and it promotes the core value of individual volunteering for the benefit of the local community.
The HMC blood donation unit with paramedical staff was available at the RasGas Headquarters in West Bay on Monday and at the RasGas Medical Centre building in Ras Laffan on Tuesday.
