Qatar Railways Company has joined the International Union of Railways (UIC) at the 10th meeting of the Regional Assembly of Middle East rail Networks (RAME) in Doha yesterday.

Al-Mohannadi: ambitious plans
RAME is the first regional assembly that was established within the International Union of Railways (UIC) after the re-structuring of the International Union of Railways in 2006.
Qatar Railways Company chief executive officer Saad al-Mohannadi said “its joining the UIC will enhance the work of the union, especially because Qatar has an ambitious plan to build a transportation network in railways, as well as a project to link Gulf countries, which is one of the most advanced in the world.”
Al-Mohannadi said the UIC has a “2025 vision document” for the Middle East, which sets the stage for future strategies of the International Union of Railways networks in the Middle East.
Qatar Railways has ambitious plans to develop the rail system, which will be considered as the best not only at the regional level, but also in the Middle East as a whole, al-Mohannadi added.
