Pearl School, a new Indian school in Qatar and an initiative of the Round Square Foundation, will start operations from Sunday, April 28.

Following the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, the school will start with kindergarten classes and Class One.

The details of the new institution were presented by school officials during a press conference held at Radisson Blu Doha yesterday.

The Round Square Foundation is an educational institution established in Qatar.

According to its officials, the foundation aims to provide quality education by equipping students with knowledge, competence and capability to become responsible citizens.

The foundation also has plans to set up Cardiff International Kindergarten as well as Cardiff International School, both following British Curriculum.

Both the schools will be operational from September.

Manjari Recriwal, who has more than 25 years of teaching experience with DPS Delhi, is the principal of Pearl School.

At present, the school has recruited four teachers and a nurse.

Recriwal said: “We have a very interactive (online) system in the school. Parents, teachers and students can access the Web portal of the school with different passwords.

“Parents also will get weekly feedback about the students’ performance in school. Moreover, there will be regular updates about the students to the parents on daily attendance and other matters.”

Recriwal also said that there would be two teachers to a kindergarten class of 20.

Speaking on the occasion, Round Square Foundation chairman Hamad Mubarak al-Kaabi said that his organisation aims to provide the best educational practices to the next generation of the country.

“We are driven by the directives set up by His Highness the Emir.

“Our intention is to add value in building up a world class education infrastructure to provide a solid foundation for the coming generations,” he said.

Foundation vice-chairman K Asharaf said: “The community in Qatar needs more educational facilities. We are committed to not only provide facilities but also trying to make it the best in its class in the long run.”

Foundation officials David Williams and A S Abdul Gafoor were also present at the press conference.
