Ooredoo yesterday presented the organisers of the 12th Free Medical Camp with a significant donation to support the costs of the 2013 event and ensure that the camp could be held again in future.
Organised by the Indian Islamic Association Qatar (IIAQ), the Indian Doctors Club (IDC) and the Indian Medical Association’s Qatar Chapter (IMA), the camp was attended by more than 5,000 low-income workers who do not have easy access to healthcare facilities.
Thousands of people received free consultation and underwent diagnostic tests, eye tests and health education at the camp, held at Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent School for Boys this month.
Sponsored by Ooredoo, the camp was held in co-ordination with the Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care Corporation.
Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of public relations at Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo sponsors a wide range of community health initiatives to support every section of society. The free medical camp has become an important annual fixture that protects the health of low-income expatriates in Qatar and we are delighted to work with the network of volunteers and healthcare organisations that make it possible. We hope our sponsorship will enable the camp to continue in future.”
