Qtel set up screens to show the match
More than 8,000 excited cricket fans had the chance to watch their heroes in action over the weekend, as Qtel screened the Indian Premier League (IPL) semi-finals and finals for free in the Industrial Area of Doha.
Sponsored by Qtel Mobile Money, the event brought all the excitement to Sanaiya in the Industrial Area. Qtel distributed baseball caps, t-shirts and water to keep the fans cool in the summer heat. As an added bonus, attendees at the event were also invited to sign-up for Qtel’s pioneering Mobile Money service, which enables customers to send money overseas, transfer funds across Qatar and buy Hala Top-Ups using their Mobile Money mWallet.
The service is particularly useful for workers in Qatar without bank accounts, since they can pay cash into their mWallet for free at any Qtel Self-Service Machine, and transfer it quickly and easily. More than 1,000 new customers signed up for the service during the IPL screenings, attracted by its convenience, security and free sign-up, and received a souvenir cricket bat for registering.
Qtel screens the Indian Premier League on its Pehla Prime package on Mozaic TV, and the free screenings ensured that every cricket follower in Qatar could enjoy the matches, leading up to the grand final between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Customers can register for Qtel Mobile Money at selected Qtel Shops across the country. Qtel is working with employers in Qatar, to enable them to make direct payments of salaries into Qtel Mobile Money accounts, to ensure easy access and convenience.
