The Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured more than 150, was condemned yesterday by a Doha-based Muslim scholar.
At his Friday sermon at the Omar Ibn al-Khattab Mosque, Sheikh Dr Yusuf al-Qaradawi said that assassinations and terror attacks could never be approved or accepted as a way of dealing with things. He said: “I strongly condemn this action, whosoever the perpetrators might be - Muslims or non-Muslims.”
“Islam calls for peace, peace for all people. We only fight those who fight us and adopt the proper ethics of war when we are at war. Fighting in war should be open and declared, not assassinations and terror attacks,” he added.
The eminent scholar expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Qatar in the process of the Gaza reconstruction, peace in Darfur, promotion of the Syrian people’s cause and the
development in Sudan.
Qaradawi also praised the role of Qatar in consolidating the reconciliation efforts among the different Palestinian factions.
