With the transfer of medical services for expatriate bachelor labourers to the Red Crescent Clinic , patients are said to be having a tough time, local daily Arrayah has reported.
A number of expatriates told the newspaper that the health centre, which receives around 1,000 patients every day, faces problems such as shortage of doctors and lack of airconditioning in the waiting area.
Due to the dearth of doctors, says the report, patients are forced to wait for long hours before their turn comes. Besides, problems with the airconditioning mean that they have to sweat it out in the waiting area.
The patients have pointed out that the waiting hall is always crowded. This, they say, poses a health hazard as people with different diseases and ailments are made to wait in the packed room.
The workers have also told Arrayah that the facility does not have enough washrooms to cater to the requirements of the visitors.
One doctor examines around 200 patients. With the inadequate number of examination rooms, this adds to the woes of the patients.
One of the workers said people had hoped that the service would improve following the transfer to the Red Crescent Clinic. “However, things became worse after the old medical team was replaced.” He also complained visitors had to wait for long to get medicines from the
pharmacy.
