Yovani Gallardo homered and struck out six in his first start since being arrested on a drunken driving charge, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat San Francisco 7-2 on Thursday for a three-game sweep.

‘‘It was tough,’’ Gallardo said. ‘‘It’s obviously something you don’t want to ever run into or happen.

‘’There’s different things we all go through, different situations. We all have stuff off the field.

Something like that is a big deal. It’s serious. I apologise. I’m just going to do everything possible and everything I have to do so something like that doesn’t happen again.’’

Milwaukee took all three games from the World Series champion Giants and won its season-high fourth in a row after a 1-8 skid.

‘‘The guys in here, they know what kind of person I am,’’ Gallardo said. ‘‘It’s one of those things, obviously, we all know what happened was a mistake. It wasn’t the brightest thing. But the guys are behind me.’’

Elsewhere, Carlos Villanueva worked seven strong innings and Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer as Chicago earned a split of the rain-shortened two-game series with visiting Texas.

Alfonso Soriano added his first homer of the season during a four-run rally in the third and Luis Valbuena drove in two for the Cubs.

Villanueva (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits while striking out six.

Wilin Rosario, Todd Helton and Troy Tulowitzki drove in two runs apiece to lead Colorado to their sixth consecutive victory.

Eric Young Jr. and Carlos Gonzalez had three hits each and Tulowitzki, Dexter Fowler and Josh Rutledge hit solo homers to lead the offense.

Jon Garland (2-0) became the first Rockies starter to pitch seven innings this season, needing just 83 pitches while allowing two runs and six hits.

The temperature was 28F (-2C) at game time, which tied for the coldest game at Coors Field.

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched six strong innings and pinch-hitter Kyle Seager broke up a scoreless tie with an RBI double in the seventh to help Seattle clinch the three-game series.
