Qatar has achieved progress by articulating a strong vision, embracing innovation and establishing sound policies that encourage long-term planning and investment, ExxonMobil senior vice president Andrew P Swiger told the Business and Investment in Qatar Forum in Berlin yesterday.

Swiger said that the extraordinary story of Qatar’s leadership began with the vision of HH the Emir to develop the world’s largest non-associated gas resource in a way that maximised the value of the nation’s resources for the advancement of all.

“Qatar implemented HH the Emir’s vision by promoting a sound and stable legal, tax and regulatory structure that encourages long-term planning and investment. The investment and partnerships that followed created world-class liquefied natural gas capabilities from development and production, to delivery and regasification,” the official told his audience.

Swiger said that the increase in energy security from Qatar was helping to build a better future for Europe, Asia and much of the world. He also complimented the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 which offers a strategy to transform Qatar into a knowledge-based economy, an educational leader and a global technology pioneer.

Swiger said that ExxonMobil was proud to support the vision of  HH the Emir and would continue its work to contribute to Qatar’s growing energy industry in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, along with an equal emphasis on supporting the country’s way of life and growing its potential.

Swiger said that ExxonMobil was also deeply involved in community initiatives, including partnerships with the Social Development Centre and INJAZ, which prepare young people for the global economy. The company is also a strong supporter of Katara, which serves as a guardian for the heritage and traditions of Qatar, and with Qatar University, which ExxonMobil partnered with to launch the Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy to energise young mind on the importance of math and science.
