ConocoPhillips, one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production companies is participating in the Annual Qatar Petroleum (QP) Environment Fair 2013,.

The company’s pavilion was visited by event patron and HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.

The booth  featured games and tools designed to help children learn about the water cycle through an interactive game board which enables them to clearly understand their water consumption and the choices they can make to preserve water and save the environment.

The theme of this year’s event ‘Clean Energy for a Sustainable World’.

Gary Sykes, President ConocoPhillips Qatar, said: “ConocoPhillips is committed to championing environmentally sustainable solutions, and water preservation is a key component to our activities in Qatar.  Through our cutting edge Global Water Sustainability Centre in Qatar Science and Technology Park we are researching and develop innovative water solutions to support Qatar’s long-term growth and development.

The QP Environment Fair provided us with the perfect opportunity to reach out and engage with the local community, especially children, to educate and inform them about the important work we are doing and teach them about the water cycle and how it relates to their lives”.

During the fair, ConocoPhillips also participated in the QP Amazing Environment Race, which is patterned after the popular TV show the “Amazing Race.”  The race featured teams from 10 different schools who competed in various physical and mental games and was a great success in further engaging the next generation on the importance of caring for the planet.
