Best Buddies Qatar has held closing ceremonies of its clubs’ programmes in nine colleges including Qatar University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Community College of Qatar, Calgary University, University of the College of the North-Atlantic in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar, Northwestern University-Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar and the Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar.
All Best Buddies club members were granted certificates of appreciation for their participation during 2011-2012 academic year with focus on enhancing the life of people with intellectual challenges.
The members are being encouraged to continue their participations in the organisation’s activities for the next year.
The closing ceremonies included a number of activities such as swimming day, music day, painting day and movie day during which students watched ‘Spirit’. They also visited Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs as part of the events.
Students with and without intellectual disabilities enjoyed the opportunity to share clubs activities together before the vacation.
There are plans to include Stenden University into the BBQ College Programme in order to involve more volunteers to serve the society and brighten lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
