Japanese Ambassador Kenjiro Monji met Qatar National Library director Abdulla Nasser al-Ansari yesterday morning and donated 72 Japan-related books to the library in collaboration with Japan Foundation.
The donation was part of the embassy’s continued efforts to promote cultural relationships between the two countries.
The embassy began handing over Japan-related books - donated by the foundation - to Qatar National Library in 1987 under its annual library support programme. The total number of books presented by the embassy to the library has now reached 915.
The vast collection of books (Arabic, English, and Japanese) on Japan at the library has become a useful resource for providing Qatari readers with a wide range of information on Japan.
Ambassador Monji also thanked al-Ansari for his support as director of the 23rd Doha International Book Fair, in which Japan participated as a guest of honour, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage.
