Winners of the competition claim their awards
Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) in collaboration with New Doha International Airport (NDIA) has announced the names of winners and shortlisted participants in the photography competition titled ‘Capture the Essence of Qatar’. The prizes were distributed to winners during a reception dinner at the MIA Education Centre.
The winners are: Arioseto Kusuma Adi, Hussein Mohammad al-Shafi’i, Muhammad al-Misnad, and Sarah Abd al-Majid
Hala al-Khalifa, Education Manager at QMA, said: “This National competition brought together all professional and amateur photographers living in Qatar. It was open to all people with love for photography and the camera, whether they are Qataris or local residents from any other nationality. Capture the Essence of Qatar followed the guidelines of the Qatar National Vision 2030. It was a celebration of talents and different interpretations and an exciting competition to be involved in.”
A jury of experienced visual artists and cultural leaders reviewed, evaluated and chose the four winners. The photos they took will be displayed prominently at the departure hall of the New Doha International Airport. Each of the four winners received a prize of QR20,000.
The 30 other photographs shortlisted by the jury will be showcased in a unique exhibition, with the date and venue to be announced later.
The aim of the competition was to celebrate the achievements of Qatar, past and present, and the passion of people who live and work here.
Submitted images represented the heritage, culture and the Qatar National Vision for 2030. They were classified under one of the four themes of the Qatar 2030 vision: Human Development, Social Development, Economic Development and Environmental Development.
