The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) yesterday accused the administration coalition of using campaign tactics reminiscent of the method allegedly used by the allies of former president Gloria Arroyo—character assassination.
Nancy Binay, daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay, one of the senatorial candidates of the opposition coalition, said that it is very saddening to learn that Team PNoy, which is supposed to be advocating President Benigno Aquino’s “Tuwid na Daan” (straight path), is engaging in a campaign strategy used by the previous administration.
“We already expected these (personal attacks) even before the campaign started, but we did not expect that the administration will use the GMA style of campaign,” Binay said on the sidelines of the UNA campaign sortie in Navotas.
Binay was referring to the series of personal attacks that have been coming since the campaign period started including the recent tirades against Rep Jose Victor Ejercito Estrada of San Juan in connection with his reported failure to declare all his assets in his statement of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALN).
Ejercito Estrada earlier denied claims that he had been untruthful in his statement of assets liabilities and net worth (SALN) and even questioned the timing of the charge.
