Energy major Total presented its ‘carbon capture sequestration’ technology at the recently concluded Production and Optimisation Conference (POCE) at the QNCC.

Total displayed the model of a project from south France, where it has deployed the technology to find solution for the environmental challenges, on the sidelines of the exhibition. Total was a sponsor and participant at the conference and the company’s senior executives were either panelists or moderators at the conference.
“During the three days, numerous subjects have been presented and discussed, showing a bright future ahead for the industry, but also a growing complexity in the challenges the industry face” said Bertrand Bacaud, technical manager at Total E&P Qatar, and a POCE organising committee member.Christophe Sassolas, Total Qatar vice president (NOA & Business Development) took part in the discussion on “Redefining NOC/IOC/service provider relationships” as well as “Carbon management- problem or opportunity”
Catherine Prinet, Total manager (CCS Project Storage) also spoke.
At the POCE closing ceremony, Total E&P Qatar managing director Stephane Michel said, “The need for technology increases even as the resources we want to develop are getting more complex by the day. And there is a legitimate increase in regulations that forces us to develop new ways of producing.
“Innovation is at the heart of our industry. Total has been actively involved in finding solution for environmental challenges; we are actively involved in carbon capture sequestration.”
