The 1st Qatar ITF Futures 2013 began yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. The tournament, which will run till April 7, 2013, will see the likes of Spain’s Jordi Samper-Montana and France’s Jules Marie fighting it out for the title. Samper-Montana, who is ranked 278 in the world, is the top seed of the tournament, while world number 283 Marie is the second seed. |
The 22-year-old Spaniard has won eight ITF Circuit singles titles, including
three this year with the most recent being the championship win at the Bahrain F1 Futures.
Marie has won five ITF Futures titles, winning in Croatia and Portugal in 2013.
Qatari players, who have received a wildcard for the event, include Abdulla al-Mohamoud, Ali al-Saygh, and Jassem al-Zeyara.
