HE Abdullah bin Khalid al-Qahtani, Minister of Public Health and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), met Dr Margaret Chan, director general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), and Dr Alaa Alwan, WHO Regional Office director for the Eastern Mediterranean, at SCH headquarters yesterday. The WHO team was on a three-day visit to Doha. The meeting dealt with co-operation at all levels and how to address the health challenges in the region, in particular fighting communicable diseases. This is the first visit of Dr Chan to Doha since assuming the top WHO position in 2006.
