The 42nd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh was celebrated with a function being held at the embassy yesterday.
The programme started with the hoisting of the National Flag in the morning by charge d’affaires Mohamed Nasir Uddin.
A special prayer for the martyrs of the war of liberation and also for peace and progress of the nation was held.
Messages from Bangladesh’s Acting President Mohamed Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni were also read out.
Bangladesh embassy’s first secretary Mohamed Maqsudur Rahman, other officials and staff, a number of community members, teachers and staff of Bangladesh MHM School & College were among those present.
In the evening, a reception was held for Qatari dignitaries, diplomats and Bangladesh community members at the Bangladesh House.
