Total E&P Qatar recently conducted a survey on corporate social responsibility (CSR) with its stakeholders. The week-long exercise included meetings, interviews and workshops with the French company’s employees, customers, suppliers, government officials and other community members.
A presentation on societal diagnosis was given to Total’s employees by Jean-Marc Fontaine, vice-president of HSE exploration and production, as part of the survey. Catherine Enck, vice-president of social business, was also present for the various meetings and interviews.
Total supports Qatar through various CSR initiatives directed towards social, human, economical and environmental development.
This was the first time that the energy company undertook such a large-scale survey in the field of social performance in Qatar, implementing a methodology that has been used in 20 other countries.
Total E&P Qatar managing director Stephane Michel said: “Total’s responsibility to serve the State of Qatar is not limited to industrial presence, but covers corporate social responsibility as well. We have undertaken the survey as a step towards understanding how we can best support the Qatari community in different fields. We are happy with the positive outcome of the survey and are highly appreciative of the different remarks we have received from the meetings with our stakeholders. It has helped us realise where we should direct our efforts to be more effective in corporate citizenship.”
