Qatar’s Nasser Saleh al-Attiyah continued his domination of the Middle East Rally Championship when he took a healthy lead in the Kuwait Rally yesterday.
Driving a Ford Fiesta RRC, al-Attiyah built healthy 41.3sec lead over Shaikh Khalid al-Qassimi of the Abu Dhabi Citroen Total World Rally Team DS3.
Al-Attiyah and his Italian co-driver Giovanni Bernacchini, finished five special stages through Kuwait’s desert on the opening day in 51:51.2sec.
Qatar’s Abdulaziz al-Kuwari and his Italian co-driver Killian Duffy are in third place in their Ford Fiesta.
The Kuwait Rally is the second round of the FIA MERC series which ends in December. Al-Attiyah won the opening round in Qatar to announce his intent to pocket the tile one more time.
