| Judges and hypermarket officials at the opening of the cookery contest |
LuLu Hypermarket, D-Ring Road, conducted a cookery contest featuring categories such as milk products, seafood, meat, chicken and fruit carving.
The hypermarket said it was held to coincide with the ongoing Food Fiesta 2012 and its objective was to celebrate the culinary heritage of the local community as well as large cross-sections of
expatriates.
Shortlisted contestants have brought dishes opted by them duly prepared at home for the assessment by the connoisseurs. A panel of experts which included Moona Masri Whitice, Ilse Dumont, Usha Ravishankar, editor-in-chief of Today’s Outlook Magazine Ghana H Conord and minister-consul general of the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica Ana Martiza Fuenes selected the winners of the cookery contest.
The judges said it was difficult to make the choice because qualitywise all the dishes were of exceptionally good standard. The contestants demonstrated the method of cooking of the dishes before the judges and the customers during the contest.
LuLu Hypermarket Group offered prizes to the
winners.
The annual food festival of the hypermarket is much awaited by the customers and food professionals.
The two-week-long food fiesta culminated in the cookery contest marking the grand finale of the
festival on Saturday.
