Andrew Stevens, Group chief executive officer, Commercialbank, yesterday announced the appointment of Omran al-Sherawi as the head of liability management, treasury and financial markets.
The bank has approved the appointment with immediate effect, he added.
Al-Sherawi, who has been with Commercialbank for eight years, has assumed a series of roles across the wholesale banking business. He is also one of the managers supported and mentored through the bank’s accelerated leadership programme, which has been developed specifically to fast-track the careers of high-potential Qatari leaders at
Commercialbank.
In the past year, al-Sherawi attended executive education programmes at Insead Business School in Paris and London Business School, and has just started his Master of Strategic Management at HEC Paris in Qatar.
“This is an exciting time for the bank, presenting fantastic opportunities for young talented leaders like Omran. His appointment also shows Commercialbank’s ongoing commitment to developing and accelerating the career of talented and motivated young Qataris. I am confident he will be a great success and I wish him luck in his new position,” Stevens said, adding: “We look forward to meeting many young people at the career fair next month and sharing more information about our world-class talent development
programmes.”
