Jhanvi and Jaydeep entertain the audience at the Maharashtra Mandal function at Doha Cinema
Indian expatriate forum Maharashtra Mandal Qatar recently held a musical event, featuring Marathi rock star Avdhoot Gupte and his team at the Doha Cinema.
The event was held to mark the 52nd anniversary celebrations of Maharashtra’s statehood.
Gupte and his 11-member troupe entertained the audience with a number of songs during the show that lasted more than three hours.
They sang such evergreen numbers as Jay Jay Maharashtra Maza, Tuzhe dekh ke meri Madhoobala, and Patras karan ki.
Gupte was ably supported by Jhanvi and Jaydeep among others.
The chief guest was Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa. She lauded the services of the forum in helping uphold the rich cultural diversity of India among the expatriates.
Senior community member and winner of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Hassan Chaugule was the guest of honour.

Wadhwa, Chaugule, Indian Cultural Centre president Tarun Kumar Basu and Maharahstra Mandal Qatar president Deven Deorukhar jointly released the forum’s souvenir for 2011-12.
Deorukhar spoke about the strides made by Maharashtra in the last 50 years and how much the state has contributed to the development of the country. 
The programme was anchored by Marathi artiste Jitendra Joshi, who was flown in by the organisers.
The Mandal thanked the sponsors which included Jet Airways, International Tyre and Equipment, LuLu Hyper Market, Doha Bank, Supreme Supply, Aqua Chemie, Doha Grand Hotel, Ramada, Darode-Jog Builders, Girivan Farm house project, Oriental Trading, Gulf Lights, Bollywood Masala, Royale Services, Gulf Switchgears, MIT Gurukul and Toyo Tyres.
