QU president Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad and Dolphin Energy Qatar general manager Adel Ahmed Albuainain discussed the collaborative partnership, which started in 2010, and in which several initiatives and projects at the College of Engineering (CENG) received sponsorship support.
For the 2011/2012 academic year, Dolphin Energy sponsored a number of CENG initiatives – the 3rd International Gas Processing Symposium in March 2012; Life is Engineering Project 2012, Qatari Engineer of 2030; Plant Design Award Contest, Dolphin Open Day, and an educational workshop for CENG faculty. The organisation is also sponsoring the Future Energy Summit to be held this month.
“We are proud to have Dolphin Energy as a partner in events of such global importance as well as on projects that engage young people in Qatar towards an appreciation of science and engineering and provide professional development opportunities for faculty to keep abreast of new developments in the industry,” said CENG Dean Dr Mazen Hasna.
Prof al-Misnad thanked Dolphin Energy for its continuing support of QU and its commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts between the two organisations with the objective to playing a lead role in contributing to the fulfilment of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy.
“It cannot be understated how important such strong partnerships are for us at QU. Our special relationship with industry and the wider community is one of the key niches that make QU what it is today, and what brings such rich benefits to our students and faculty” Albuainain said.
“Collaborating with Qatar University on the many initiatives undertaken has resulted in tangible, beneficial outcomes – from developing industry best practice to helping future engineers acquire the skills required for career development. We look forward to joining forces with the University in the future as we foster the alliance between education and industry,” he said.
