To commemorate the 100 years of the Indian cinema, a group of expatriates from Kerala is holding a movie award extravaganza featuring some of the top actors from the southern Indian state at the Old Ideal Indian School grounds on May 10.
The show, “The Indian Movie Awards in Qatar (IMAQ 2013)” will feature, among others, one of the most sought after actors of the Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal, and Reema Kallungal, who recently was adjudged the “best actress” at this year’s Kerala Government Film Awards.
At the function, Mohanlal and many other artistes will be conferred upon with the IMAQ awards, which the organisers said would be an annual event.
The function is scheduled for 7 pm start.
Informing this yesterday, the organisers said the show to be held in May will have the presence of about 40 actors and actresses from the Kerala film industry.
Mid Town Mall is the main sponsor of the event and Gulf Times the official media.
Apart from Mohanlal and Kallungal, others expected for the event are versatile actor Prathap Pothen, Biju Menon, Nevin Poly, Isha Talwar, Fahd Fazil and Remya Nambeesan, directors Lal Jose, Sekhar Menon and Ashique Aboo, music director Bijibal, and Sekhar Menon.
A stage show featuring the artistes will also be held on the occasion. It will be under the aegis of Music Lounge, a newly opened academy of performing arts.
At the briefing yesterday, Music Lounge director Santhosh Kuruvilla, Jet Airways country manager Anil Srinivasan, Mid Town Mall operations manager M Nabeel, Horizon Manor Hotel general manager Thomas Pulimoottil, and Mohamed Musthafa (Doha Stage) spoke.
