The Civil Defence Authority yesterday supervised a mock evacuation drill  at the Commercialbank’s 22-storey building in Al-Dafna as part of the authority’s plan to raise awareness about safety procedures jointly with the different entities and institutions in the country.
The evacuation drill started as smoke emitted, alarms went off, and speakers announced that the building was on fire. Safety workers at the building started to evacuate more than 600 staff and clients, taking them to safe assembly points through emergency exits.
Two people were fictitiously reported injured and were offered first aid before medics took care of them.
Rescue Police (Al Fazaa) controlled the traffic in the streets surrounding the location of the fire drill as the evacuation process took place.
