Qatar’s Abdulla al-Tamimi defeated Hong Kong’s Ma Tsz Hei 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 in the final to win the Under-19 title of the Doha Junior Open Squash Tournament here at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Sunday.

This is the second title win for the top seed Qatari in as many weeks. Last week, Tamimi defeated Shaun Kwan Ka Junn of Malaysia to win the Qatar Junior Open.

Yuen Tsun Hei of Hong Kong won the Under-17 final defeating Shyan Kuwan Ka Lapp of Malaysia 12-10, 12-10, 11-2.

In the Under-15 category, Ahmad al-Homaidi defeated Abd El Aziz Omeira 4-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9, 11-2.

Waleed Zaman won the Under-11 crown, defeating Mohamed Ouda in straight games. The under-13 title was bagged by top seed Abdulaziz al-Ishaq, who defeated Ali al-Dosari, also in straight games.

The tournament, an Asian Squash Federation Junior Super Series Silver event and a World Squash Federation (WSF) World Junior Circuit event, was organised by Qatar Squash Federation (QSF). Participants received WSF ranking points in Under-19 and ASF ranking points in all other categories.

Meanwhile, the 11th InterContinental Squash Championship will be held from April 11 to 15 at the InterContinental Squash courts, it was announced here yesterday. The tournament will be contested in the following ten categories: Boys Under-9, Boys Under-11, Boys Under-13, Boys Under-15, Boys Under-17, Men’s level B, Men’s Level A, Men’s over-45, Ladies and Men’s Professionals.

The entry forms are available at Radisson Blu Recreation Centre, and Sheraton Recreation, InterContinental, and Qatar Squash Federation. The closing date to submit entries is April 3.
