Mowasalat is highlighting the salient features of its training facility, Karwa Transportation Training and Development Centre (KTTDC) in Abu Hamour, as part of the annual GCC Traffic Week.
The event got off to a start at Darb al-Saaei pavilion near the Sports Roundabout yesterday. The Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Week celebrations are held under the theme, “Your Safety is our Aim”.
Mowasalat said it was taking part in the annual event with the aim of supporting and promoting traffic awareness campaigns and demonstrating its commitment to providing the highest level of protection on the country’s roads to all sections of people. A variety of activities are organised at the company’s training centre in Abu Hamour.
Mowasalat is highlighting the steps it has taken to emerge as a world-class transport firm. These include efforts to ensure the optimal use of safety methods in driving, the opportunity to apply for local or international driving licences, theoretical and practical training classes, information on transportation of dangerous goods by road and certificate of professional competence (CPC).
Mowasalat said through its equipment, the company was imparting practical experiences similar to what happened in real life. For instance, drivers were becoming more aware of the difference between wearing a seat belt and not using it. The state-of-the-art equipment helped people avoid accidents and save lives through the optimal use of security, protection and safety methods.
At the expo, the KTTDC has showcased its products and services to the public and potential customers. It has also displayed its most prominent training tools, including the driving test and awareness equipment such as the rollover simulator, correct head-positioning equipment, special glasses that warn drivers against vision obstacles and the seat belt “convincer”.
Company officials are deliberating on programmes such as driver safety training, defensive driving sessions accredited by the National Safety Council, fire-fighting driver training and first-aid driver training, among others. They are also shedding light on the company’s programmes for construction operators’ safety training, operation of forklifts, cranes, excavation and working at heights, training for transportation of dangerous goods by road accredited by the International Road Transport Union academy and truck drivers’ CPC.
