The C Street Brass ensemble from Carnegie Mellon School of Music, USA, is set to tour Doha this week.
The group will perform at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Al Mirqab Boutique Hotel located in Souq Waqif.
Founded in 2007, C Street Brass has recently been appointed Ensemble in Residence at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.
Tomorrow, the ensemble will play two 45-minute sets outside Al Mirqab from 7.30pm. Then, on Thursday, there will be a reception at 5.30pm and a free performance at 6pm on the CMUQ campus.
The brass quintet has received high acclaim from world-renowned musicians such as Wynton Marsalis (who inaugurated Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha), Chris Botti and Eric Ewazen. Its music draws from classic pop, contemporary music as well as unique transcriptions from all genres.
Putting a “premium on concert presentation,” C Street is devoted to bridging the gap between performer and audience, which they achieve by incorporating entertaining visuals into the music.
The group comprises trumpeters Kyle Anderson and Scott Nadelson, trombonists Gabriel Colby and Hakeem Bilal, and Eric Damashek on the horn.

Last year, CMUQ hosted the 2011-2012 Starling String Quartet from the Carnegie Mellon School of Music in Pittsburgh.
