The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), under the auspices of the Indian embassy, recently organised the Bollywood Comedy Dhamaka 2013 at the Regency Halls.
It was a double treat of comedy and music for the audience, which enjoyed the show for three and a half hours.
Swapnil Joshi and Vijay Ishwarlal Pawar - popularly known as VIP - entertained the audience with humour and mimicry, while Anita Sharma and Himmat Kumar performed popular Bollywood songs and got children to move to the beats of some fast numbers.
Indian Ambassador to Qatar Sanjiv Arora released a souvenir to mark the occasion in the presence of Jamal al-Kaabi, head of the deportation centre; P Sasi Kumar, deputy chief of mission, Indian embassy; Sandeep Chouhan, COO of Commercialbank, the main event sponsor; Tarun Basu, president of the Indian Cultural Centre; Azim Abbas, president of the Indian Business & Professional Network and Nilangshu Dey, chairman of the ICBF advisory committee and committee members.
Ambassador Arora lauded the efforts of the ICBF management committee to help underprivileged Indian nationals. He also thanked al-Kaabi for the support extended by his department, highlighting the excellent relations between the two countries.
General secretary Arvind Patil initiated the programme while ICBF president Kareem Abdulla welcomed the dignitaries and guests.
Vice-president of the forum Baby Kurien proposed the vote of thanks.
