Foreign ministers from the Gulf region will convene in Riyadh today for the 126th session of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council, under the chairmanship of Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad bin Mohamed al-Khalifa.

The meeting will be held in the presence of GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif  bin Rashid al-Zayani.

In a statement issued yesterday, the secretary-general said the council assumes importance owing to issues needing joint action.

Al-Zayani added that the council will discuss a number of issues among GCC countries and economic groups.

The council will also focus on regional, Arab and international developments.
