Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina places a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka to honour Language Movement martyrs on International Mother Language Day yesterday. The Language Movement martyrs, who fought and died on February 21, 1952, to make their mother tongue a state language, took up arms against the Pakistani army and secured the independence of Bangladesh.
