A book-signing event attracted a large number of people recently at the Virgin Megastore in Villagio Mall.
The book, How Women Succeed - Inspiring Women to Create Their Own Success, is an energetic and forward-thinking CSR (corporate social responsibility) project sponsored by the IBQ.
The event included a short programme, where some of the contributors spoke about their motivation for being part of the women’s empowerment project.
The book is a spin-off of the annual How Women Work conference. The conference is organised by Arcata Interactive Communication Coaching, and powered by Woman Today magazine.
The How Women Work conference has been held under the patronage of the Qatari Business Women Association since its inception in 2010.
The purpose of the book, as of the conference, is two-fold: “to empower women in Qatar to grow and succeed,” and “to reach hearts and minds, break down barriers and promote understanding between cultures and genders in Qatar.”
The book features stories of accomplished women from around the world, and how they have defined and created success in their lives, thereby inspiring its readers to keep on growing, thriving and pursuing their own dreams.
The book is now available only in English; the Arabic translation will be published later this year.
The proceeds of the book will be used to provide free coaching for women who have aspirations and ambitions, but lack the means to fund their own professional development.
The founder of the How Women Work Group, Carolin Zeitler, who also authored a substantial part of the book, said: “We are thrilled that the book has been received with such enthusiasm and interest. We have already sold enough copies to fund a first coaching session for women of lower incomes, and we hope that with the renewed interest generated by this event, we will soon be able to fund a second one. Many thanks to all our supporters out there for making it possible and special thanks to our sponsors, IBQ.”
George Nasra, managing director of IBQ said: “We are very happy to see the signing of the How Women Succeed Book attracting a considerable number of attendees who were eager to be amongst the first to own the book and get first-hand testimonials from the authors themselves. It is great to see the increasing interest of women in all avenues that are being made available to them and which help further their knowledge in career development and inspire them to be leaders and exemplars. At IBQ, we continuously align ourselves with these initiatives that generate tangible benefits to different segments in Qatar in addition to providing support by introducing customised solutions to their needs.”
The book is now available for sale from Virgin Megastores in Villaggio and Landmark malls.
