HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani holding talks with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite chaired a session of official talks between Qatar and Lithuania here yesterday.
A number of ministers attended the meeting. On the Lithuanian side members of the delegation accompanying the Lithuanian President attended the session.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means to enhance them in different fields, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of joint interest. 
HH the Emir later hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Lithuanian President and the delegation accompanying her.
Later the Lithuanian president visited Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). She was received by director of Communication Department Haya al-Nassr.
Grybauskaite was briefed about QF’s mission and goals, in addition to its developmental and scientific research projects. The Lithuanian president signed QF’s guestbook. Haya al-Nasser, on behalf of QF employees, presented Grybauskaite manuscripts of the Holy  Qur’an.
Several important  accords to be signed
Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said yesterday that her country will sign a number of important economic agreements with Qatar.
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Lithuanian president said her country was keen to bolster bilateral relations with Qatar, in light of the Gulf country’s developmental renaissance that had taken place in the past few years.

President Dalia Grybauskaite added that the impression she got from her visit, which will end today, was “very good”. She said that her country was looking to enhance co-operation with any country that witnessed significant development. She added that Qatar was in that category.
Grybauskaite said that the two governments will sign a range of agreements including protecting investments as well as an agreement on economic co-operation. 
Grybauskaite said that Lithuania was looking at diversifying the fields of bilateral co-operation with Qatar. One of those aspects, was importing Qatar’s LNG, she said. 
She said that Qatar was interested in co-operation with Lithuania in the field of renewable energy as Lithuania is famous for producing batteries that is charged by solar energy.  Grybauskaite said that there could be co-operation in the field of scientific research, particularly relating to technology and sustainable energy. The Lithuanian President said that the visit coincided with the 20th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations.
