The Qatar Table Tennis Federation (QTTA) will field six Qatari players for competing in the Qatar Open Table Tennis Championship, it was announced yesterday. More than 400 players from 36 countries will take part in the tournament, one of the richest on the professional circuit. |
The event will be played at the Women’s Sports Committee Hall from February 20 to 24. Last year China won all the four titles on offer. Mohamed Abdulla, General Secretary of QTTA, said the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) will hold its Executive Committee Meeting during the event. Abdulla said: “The ITTF Executive Board will be coming to Doha and a big meeting will take place on February 23.”
He added that it will be the second time the meeting will be held in Doha and that all members of the ITTF Board will be attending it. The qualification rounds will begin on February 20 and 21.
Qtel was announced as the official sponsors of the tournament.
