CNA-Q’s facilities department staff receiving the certifications

With its Facilities Department receiving ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar has become the only educational institute in Qatar to achieve the feat.
The certifications, presented by SGS Qatar, cover areas including Quality Management Services, Environmental Management Systems and Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Specifications.
“Either of these certifications on their own would be a worthy achievement,” said Shawn Brace, vice-president finance and administration at CNA-Q.
“However to receive all three demonstrates a dedication to quality that is indicative of the work being done by our Facilities Department.”
During the certification process, the department performed a gap analysis in conjunction with SGS Qatar to determine what systems and processes needed to be implemented, which needed upgrading and which were working properly.
“The processes implemented were extremely good,” observed Jose Alex, consumer testing and system certification manager of SGS Qatar.
“We found that the systems were incorporated in such a way there were no real gaps. We also found that the way the systems were implemented meant there was opportunity for continual improvement.”
Given that the Department of Information Technology had received ISO certification in 2011, the recent recognition makes CNA-Q the only educational institute in the GCC to hold these four certifications.
