Badr al-Meer receiving the award
United Development Company (UDC), master developer of the Pearl-Qatar, has solidified its position as one of the region’s leading companies, winning the prestigious ‘Best Developer’ title at the Construction Week Qatar Awards, held earlier this month in Doha.
Engineer Badr al-Meer, vice president engineering & construction at UDC, received the award at a gala ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Doha. UDC has won the coveted award for the second time in succession.
Al-Badr said the awards were in recognition of UDC’s and the Pearl-Qatar’s commitment to excellence and to creating world class residential developments and all involved in the project were proud of the achievement.
“At UDC we are all proud to be involved with this truly exceptional project, which has been able to flourish because of the vision and wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al-Thani, Emir of Qatar,” al-Badr said.
The second annual Construction Week awards saw a total of 17 awards handed out across a range of individual, company and project categories which celebrated and recognised achievements in Qatar’s construction industry.
UDC has so far completed approximately 99% of the Pearl-Qatar’s infrastructure and the completion of construction for all stages is expected by the end of 2015. The Pearl-Qatar combines high quality features and high-end services that will accommodate 45,000 people from 52 nationalities from around the world.
The project is a combination of commercial, residential, and leisure investment. In addition, the engineering design was inspired by Mediterranean architecture that was clearly mixed with Islamic architectural art while keeping influences from Qatari heritage.
