The Ministry of Interior has introduced Metrash 2, offering more services which can be availed of through the ministry’s electronic platform and providing the country’s residents the freedom of meeting their requirements “at any time and anywhere in the world”
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, Metrash 2, an upgraded version of its popular Metrash initiative, offers Traffic Department services and a host of others, including visit visas for personal and corporate sponsorships, residence permits (RP), exit permits (EP), electronic gate (eGate) and general queries.
The services can be availed of at any time and from anywhere in the world. The requirements for using the services are that the applicant must have a valid Smart ID card and the mobile number should be registered under the applicant’s name.
Registration at the website can be done through the “self-service kiosk” machines available in different parts of the country. The self-service kiosks are located at Qatar Post headquarters, Landmark shopping mall, Villaggio shopping mall, Royal Plaza and the Airport Security and Passports Department Visa Section.
Traffic services offered through the website of Metrash 2 include renewing driving licence, issuing replacement of lost or damaged driving licence as well as issuing vehicle permit.
Other services available are transfer of vehicle ownership, transfer of distinguished plate number, and issue of traffic certificates. People also can view registered traffic violations and pay fines through the website.
Visit visa services for personal and corporate sponsorships are following up of applications and approvals of visa fee payment, issuing return visa for visit, payment of delay fines, extending visit visas from within the country and renewing unused visit visas.
Residence permit (RP) services include renewing RPs for personal and corporate sponsorships, cancelling RPs for personal and corporate sponsorships, modifying or changing passport data and separating dependents from residents’ passports.
A number of exit permit services are available through the website. They are issuing exit permits for personal and corporate sponsorships, exit permits for personal sponsorship for Qataris and residents, exit permits for company-sponsored personnel and the issuing of visa exit permits for individuals and companies.
The eGate services include activating and renewing eGate service.
The Metrash 2 services also have the facility for residents to inquire about exit or entry movements, about companies, clarifications about visas and about sponsored persons.
The services can be subscribed through a simple procedure. Users can log in to the self-service system by using the Smart ID card.
Once logged in, they have the option of choosing the desired language and select the personal services of the smart card holder. They can opt Metrash 2 and the service screen will be displayed.
The system displays a confirmation message of the successful completion of the procedure. Followed by it the users will get the service activation key with two parts.
The first part will be printed by the machine while the second part will be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number.
The Metrash system can also be downloaded to the mobile phone.
