HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada inaugurating ExxonMobil stand at the QP Environment Fair
ExxonMobil Qatar supported Qatar Petroleum’s annual Environment Fair held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.
This is the third consecutive year ExxonMobil has sponsored the QP Environment Fair where the general public, with special emphasis on Qatar’s youth, is invited to learn more about the environment and ways they can be good environmental stewards.
The fair emphasised the notion that the ‘environment is everyone’s responsibility’ through activities held in fun-filled zones designed to teach children about a variety of environments, such as deserts, oceans, plantations and rainforests.
As in previous years, all schools in Qatar were invited to the event.
ExxonMobil works closely with its partners to produce energy responsibly by understanding and actively managing environmental risks with a relentless focus on operational excellence.
“At ExxonMobil, we are committed to conducting business in a manner that protects the environment,” said Bart Cahir, president and general manager, ExxonMobil Qatar.
“Through the QP Environment Fair, we are able to share this critical aspect of our business with the broader community and help our youth think about their own interactions with the environment.”
ExxonMobil’s participation included a stand that highlighted ExxonMobil’s environmental slogan ‘Protect tomorrow, today.’
Al-Sada toured the stand, which featured themes of energy efficiency with messages and activities targeted specifically for children ages 4 to 16. “Khaddour” ExxonMobil Qatar’s environment mascot, was also on hand to interact with visitors and distribute gifts.
As a leading petroleum and natural gas company, ExxonMobil takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously.
At ExxonMobil Research Qatar, located at the Qatar Science & Technology Park, the company is conducting research in areas of common interest to the State of Qatar and ExxonMobil, including environmental management, water reuse, LNG safety and coastal geology.
This research will be increasingly important as Qatar continues to develop its natural gas resources. The research emanating from ExxonMobil Research Qatar is part of the solution to develop economically and environmentally viable energy sources and is aligned with the Environmental Development Pillar of the Qatar National Vision.
