Sealine Beach resort has been named the “Best Decorated Hotel Front” and received a cash prize of QR30,000 during a National Day (ND) competition conducted by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
Coral Hotel-Doha was the runner-up in the contest and won a cash prize of QR20,000.
Abdullah Al Badr, director of tourism, QTA, presented the awards to Sealine Beach resort general manager Abdul Shakour bin Mohamad Basha and Coral Hotel-Doha deputy chairman and general manager Hisham Abdul Aziz.
“This competition comes to offer hotels the opportunity to deck out in their finest. Hotels were invited to enter the competition and lend their stylish elegance,” al-Badr said.
QTA earlier reminded all hotels in Qatar about the importance of joining various National Day activities and promoting Qatari hospitality by inviting all guests and visitors to sample conventional Arabic coffee and dates.
It also asked hotels to install and fly the Qatari flag at their main entrances (hotel front) and distribute small flags to tourists inside their premises especially in
visible areas.
Hotel staff wore ND pins during the occasion while female staff wore Al Nashel Thob. They also displayed white and maroon balloons at entrances and reception areas. Traditional Qatari food and dishes were put in main course menus for the day. Hotels also added Al Rayyan TV to the channel listings in hotel rooms featuring a special short movie about Qatar. It was aired by Al Rayyan TV on National Day.
