The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee has met with senior officials from the US Senate, House of Representatives and Departments of State and Homeland Security.
Secretary General Hassan al-Thawadi, technical director Yasir al-Jamal, Secretary General’s senior adviser Hamoud al-Subaey, protocol manager Fahad al-Rumaihi, strategy and development senior adviser Mahmoud Qutub, international sport adviser Dr Sakis Batsilas and legal counsel Andrew Longmate briefed the delegation on the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee’s three-year strategy, legacy goals and on-going developments.
The Qatar embassy in Washington DC, represented by Mission deputy chief Ahmed bin Yousef al-Rumaihi, first secretary Ali bin Saad al-Hajri and third secretary Abdulla al-Mohannadi, is leading the Americans on an official visit to Qatar.
The US delegation is headed by Albert Sanders, Legislative Counsel to Senator Dick Durbin of Indiana and the Senate Judiciary Committee; Jennice Fuentes, Chief-of-Staff for Congressman Luis Gutiérrez of Chicago; Christina Mulka, deputy communications director for Senator Dick Durbin and Scott Schiller, legislative director for Congressmen Billy Long of Missouri.
In February, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee and the US embassy in Qatar will lead a joint mission to the US to tour sporting venues, visit infrastructure projects and research innovative, sustainable energy technologies.
