A children’s event at the Barwa Festival
The Barwa Shopping Festival, which began on March 22 at Wakra’s Barwa Village, will witness the first of three raffle draws being held as part of the promotion on Thursday.
According to a statement by the organisers of the festival, which  features more than 900 outlets operating at the commercial complex, the festival has generated good response among shopkeepers and visitors.
The festival will conclude on May 12.
Besides discounts and special offers that Barwa Village stores are offering, the festival also includes three lucky draws featuring prizes such as a Toyota Prado, Toyota FJ Cruiser, 20 iPads, 20 Blackberry mobile phones, and 20 LG LCD TV.
The prizes listed for the 1st Raffle Draw include four motorbikes, four Blackberry cellphones, four iPads and four LG LCD TVs.
General Manager of Barwa Village Khalifa al-Mohannadi said: “So far we are pleased with the outcome of the festival with sales crossing more than QR1mn in 10 days. We are expecting an increased number of visitors to Barwa Village in the coming weeks.”
The activities linked to the festival are diversified to retain the interest of regular visitors. The entertainment and activity menu included: Magic shows, clown performances, balloon twisters, musical chairs, talent showcase, tanoora performance, bouncy rides, colouring contests, crawling competitions, quiz competitions, tug of war, henna and face painting . So far over 150 prizes have been given away to winners of various competitions during the weekend activities.
Communications Director of Barwa Real Estate Company Hamad Rashid al-Kuwari said : “Barwa Village has finally acquired the lost limelight. We are definitely expecting an increase in the number of visitors.”
