Fire trucks ready to execute the drill
The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) carried out a fire drill at the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) building in co-operation and co-ordination with the security personnel of the building last Thursday.
Information of a fire on the seventh floor of the building was received at the Operations Room while the alarm bell in the building got activated and the employees numbering 600 were guided towards safe assembly points by security personnel.
The firefighting and rescue team from Wadi Sail Civil Defence moved to the site with a rapid intervention vehicle, and a fire engine that deals with blazes at high buildings, and a vehicle with a mobile escalator.
Al-Fazaa (Rescue) police regulated the traffic on the area as the civil defence team contained the mock fire and ‘rescued’ an injured person.
The assistant general secretary of the SCH Ahmed al-Khualifi said that the SCH always gives importance to safety and security issues.
The exercise was carried out as part of the Council’s plan to make sure that it accommodates all the required safety procedures.
Al-Khulaifi thanked the Ministry of Interior in general and the Civil Defence in particular for their efforts in the exercise.
The exercise was supervised by assistant director of Operations Department at the GDCD Col Jamal Jafar al-Ajmi and evacuation officer at the GDCD First Lieutenant Khamees Salem al-Suwaidi.
