Doha Bank has signed an agreement with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) to help facilitate thousands of migrant workers from the Southeast Asian country transfer money more conveniently.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is the third largest private sector bank in the country and operates a network of more than 750 branches across the nation.
The signing ceremony was held at Doha Bank’s Head Office Tower in West Bay.
The agreement was signed by Dr R Seetharaman, Group chief executive officer of Doha Bank and Raul D Dimayuga, senior vice-president of BPI Philippines.
Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has the ability to transfer funds quickly and serve customers efficiently.
Doha Bank’s customers will be able to transfer money online to accounts at any branch of BPI in the Philippines. Customers can remit funds to the beneficiaries having accounts with any other bank in the country.
The BPI has arrangements for door-to-door delivery of remittances. Beneficiaries can also collect cash from any branch.
Dr R Seetharaman said: “The partnership with BPI will provide an opportunity to extend our services to the Filipino community in Qatar by meeting their banking and remittance requirements. We are committed to serving our customers in every possible manner and providing them a seamless banking experience. These facilities will be also available from Doha Bank branches in the UAE and Kuwait.”
Raul D Dimayuga, senior vice-president of BPI, said: “This association with Doha Bank is a commitment towards providing cost effective services to Filipino nationals who live in Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait. The arrangement will enable us to provide our customers convenient and secure services by expanding our remittance network from the GCC countries to the Philippines.”
Suresh Bajpai, head of Retail Banking Doha Bank, said this facility is convenient and cost effective for Filipino nationals to remit their funds to their home country.
It offers online transfer of money in Filipino Pesos from Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait to the Philippines.
Doha Bank also offers remittances services to Middle Eastern countries including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Turkey and Yemen as well as other Asian countries like Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
