Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Independent Technical School (QITS) to offer scholarship to students of QITS.
The partnership is part of Qapco’s support to the Strategic Qatarisation Plan initiated by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani in order to achieve a quality national workforce in the energy and industry sector in Qatar.
The MoU was signed by Rashid al-Sulaiti, Qapco’s chief administration officer on behalf of Dr Mohamed al-Mulla, vice chairman and chief executive officer, and Abdulla Shams, principal, QITS.
The ceremony was attended by Nasser al-Hajri, human resource and learning manager and other senior managers, and QITS officials Hassan Ali al-Motawa (assistant manager, administration and finance) and Shrief A Abouzeid (deputy manager and head of technical section).
Al-Sulaiti described the MoU as a very important part of Qapco’s Qatarisation strategy and will assist the oil and gas industry in general over the next five years by providing the company with 100 new technical scholarship students and trainees.
“These young men will be the future of our Company, a future that is looking extremely positive now with our new LDPE3 plant being inaugurated last month and our joint venture with QP to build a $5.5bn world-scale stream cracker Petrochemical complex at Ras Laffan by 2018,” he said.
