Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) launched the QMMF Children Academy at Losail International Circuit yesterday.
Twenty students of the Al Khor International School took part in the opening of the academy. This event is part of the Qatar National Day Celebrations and also it is part of the programme to promote road safety in Qatar.
The instructor of the event, Mark Schulz, and 20 students aged from 6 to 11 years old, for first time experienced riding a bike. All the kids were between age group of 6 to 11 and they were equipped with suits and equipments according to their sizes. They were also briefed by the instructor Mark Schulz before they rode the bikes. The first laps were done one-by-one with the instructor to get the first contact with the bikes and later on they rode in small groups.
At the end of the event, the children posed for a group photo under the FIA Action for Road Safety and FIM Ride Green banners with QMMF Board Member and FIM Environmental Commission Member Sultan al-Morraikhi.
QMMF President, FIM Vice President and FIA President Cross Country Commission Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah said, “We are very happy that today we started the academy to discover the young heroes and include the education of safety awareness and ride for the environment among kids.”
“We hope in the future, we can have more and more schools collaborating and be part in our education for young riders, Al Khor International School had the opportunity to have fun always with good lessons of safety and environmental education for riding.
We are hoping to reach the society with this good example for the family and be involved with us in the future. We also hope to have a good support from the government and local companies to give us good tools to work together to educate the young generation,” he added.
Sultan al-Morraikhi said the launch of the QMMF children academy was a good start for the young riders to develop their riding skills always under safety and awareness lessons. We are very happy to see how the children and their parents enjoyed this day under the supervision of experienced instructors. It is very important to educate our young children always in the safety side and environmental education for riding.
