QP officials celebrating world class safety performances
Qatar Petroleum (QP) has achieved world-class safety performances, realised by two multi-billion dollar capital projects currently being executed by the Technical Directorate of Qatar Petroleum.
High performance projects include the Port Expansion Project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, which achieved 37mn man-hours without any lost time injuries, and the Gas Sweetening Facilities Project in Mesaieed and Dukhan Industrial cities, for the achievement of 15mn man-hours without any lost time injuries. The nature of the work involved in these projects is complex and the environment in which the work has been executed was challenging. The average number of workers on both project sites was about 15,000.
To commemorate this important event, QP organised an awarding ceremony. The ceremony was attended by QP’s Director Technical, Director Operations, Director Ras Laffan, Corporate HSE Manager, Engineering Manager (Major Projects), Managers of the said projects and other members of staff from QP along with key representatives from contractor organisations.
QP pays particular attention to health, safety and environment and as such has developed systems and procedures that ensure senior management commitment and employees adherence. Moreover, these systems and procedures ensure contractors’ focus on delivering a project in a safe and secure environment.
QP promotes a culture of “zero accidents”, which aims at executing all the project activities without any fatality or injury, thereby ensuring full compliance to QP HSE regulations.
