Qafac participated in the Qatar Sustainability Expo held during the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which concluded in Doha on Saturday.
In a presentation, Qafac production manager Khalid al-Hitmi explained about the various initiatives the company is taking to combat climate change.
He spoke in detail about Qafac CO2 recovery project that is expected to be commissioned in September 2014 at
Mesaieed site.
About 500 T/Day of CO2 will be recovered from the flue gases of existing methanol plant and circulated back in the synthesis loop to increase production.
Qafac has recently published its 2011 sustainability report highlighting various aspects of plant safety and climate change initiatives including flare management, leak detection and repair, green belt
development.
Qafac is also taking active measures in fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities through various community awareness programmes.
As part of its commitment to the Qatari community and encourage sporting activities among locals, Qafac is to sponsor a Qatari rally driver for the upcoming Qatar National
Rally 2012-13.
