A hat-trick by Diego Tardelli Martins saw Al Gharafa thrash Al Sailiya 3-0 in the Qatar Stars League at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium here yesterday.
Tardelli provided Gharafa the breakthrough after the half an hour mark and then went on to double the lead, five minutes before the breather, through a penalty.
The change of ends couldn’t change the fortune for Al Sailiya as they slipped further down in the 53rd minute. Once again it was none other than Tardelli, who found the back of the net to complete his hat-trick.
Leading by three goals, Al Gharafa then held their defenses well and played out the remaining time. Gharafa, despite this win, stay on eighth spot in the league standings with 12 points.
In another match, a solitary goal by Adriano Ferreira Martins saw El Jaish beat Qatar Sports Club 1-0. El Jaish have now moved up to fourth place in the standings with 16 points.
A brace of goals by Sebastian Soria saw Lekhwiya hand Umm Salal and 3-1 drubbing in the third match of the evening.
The winners took the lead through Ali Hassan Ali in the 24th minute. Soria then scored through a penalty to make it 2-0 in the 43rd minute before striking again after the change of ends.
The consolation goal for Umm Salal came late in the 83rd minute through Brazilian striker Everaldo Pereira. Lekhwiya with this triumph have moved to the second spot behind Al Sadd with 22 points.
Today at 4pm: Al Wakra meet Al Khor SC at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium at 4pm, while Al Kharaitiyat play Al Sadd. Al Rayyan also take on Al Arabi at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium at 6pm.
