Rota partners, donors and volunteers at the Wheels ‘n’ Heels appreciation event

Following the success of the Wheels ‘n’ Heels Family Fun Day, organiser Reach Out To Asia (Rota) has thanked VIPs, partners, donors, celebrities and volunteers for their outstanding contributions to Qatar’s biggest community event of the year at a recent Wheels ‘n’ Heels Appreciation Event held at Qatar Foundation’s Recreation Centre.
Ensuring Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012 received the highest support, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Qatar Foundation chairperson, and HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Rota chairperson, joined international celebrities and a large, enthusiastic crowd at the Museum of Islamic Art  (MIA) Park on February 10.
“I want to thank HH Sheikha Moza and  HE Sheikha Mayassa for attending Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012. Their participation will help to inspire everyone living in Qatar to embrace the event’s key message: Live a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, good food and a safe environment,” said Rota director Essa al-Mannai.
Thousands of people attended the entertainment spectacular, made possible with the financial support and participation of Strategic Sponsor Qatar Cycling Federation and a host of respected Wheels ‘n’ Heels partners led by Qatar Telecom, Qatar Stars League, Qatar Diabetes Centre, Qatar Olympic Committee, Porsche, Aspire, Qatar Diabetes Centre, Civil Defence and the Child Culture Centre.
The food zone was supported by the participation of The One, Marriot Hotel, Nandos, Le Gourmet , Oishi Sushi  and Nestle.
“It was inspiring to see so many partners, coming together to support our efforts on behalf of the devastated communities and families of Asia,” said al-Mannai. “Our remarkable success is because of the support of the dedication of many volunteers, sponsors and partners who offered their time, assistance, and supplies to ensure that thousands of families enjoy Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012.”
One organisation demonstrating its long term support for Rota was the Qatar Cycling Federation (QCF). Partnering with Rota at all five Wheels ‘n’ Heels since the event’s inauguration in 2006, the QCF once again demonstrated remarkable organisation of the Tour of Qatar and supported Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012 by setting up and marshalling the circuit at the Museum park.
Al-Mannai went on record to thank all the celebrities who participated at Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012 including Rota brand ambassador Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdalla al-Thani, International Olympic Committee member Rania Alwani, entertainers Hala al-Turk, Fayez al-Said and Diana Korazon, Qatar Olympian Nada Zeidan, Jazeera Children’s Channel presenters Said Sarhan & Gretta al-Rayes, the Japanese School in Qatar and students who travelled from Japan to give an impressive performance on stage.
A “thank you” went to all sports institutions in Qatar with a special congratulations to the Doha 2020 Bid Committee for the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games who participated at Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2012, by unveiling the official Doha 2020 logo that will spearhead Qatar’s bid to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games to the Middle East for the first time. Al-Mannai also made special mention of the large team of Rota volunteers, commending their enthusiasm and commitment to ensure the flawless co-ordination of this unique and special event.
Rota volunteers worked in teams to manage the smooth flow of visitors in and out of the MIA Park, distributed bikes, ensured the safety of children and engaged with the public, all with a friendly smile and a positive attitude.
